GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS OF BACTERIA OF THE SPECIES AEROMONAS VERONII
Abstract
The article is devoted to the analysis of literature sources about bacteria Aeromonas spp, in particular A. veronii, about their taxonomic position, biological properties and ecology. The genus Aeromonas includes gramnegative, oxidase-positive bacilli, which are considered autochthonous in the aquatic environment and are usually isolated from clinical and environmental samples (groundwater, lakes, rivers and reservoirs), chlorinated and untreated drinking water, bottled water, swimming pools, wastewater, purified water, brackish water and seawater). Aeromonas spp. can cause a number of diseases in aquatic organisms, adversely affecting the economy of the aquaculture sector. Also, these bacteria can cause infectious processes in other animals, including humans. Infections result in diarrhea, wound and soft tissue infection, and bacteremia. Based on the results of the analysis of the literature, we found that the study of bacteria of this species in the territory of the Russian Federation has not been paid enough attention. Therefore, our further goal is to conduct research in this direction.
