LEXICO-GRAMMATIC FEATURES OF THE CONTEMPORARY OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE
Abstract
The purpose of the article is a descriptive analysis of the modern English language at the lexical and grammatical level. Various approaches to the concept of "norm" in early linguistic traditions, as well as at the present stage of development of foreign and domestic linguistics are considered. The influence of the normative approach on grammatical teachings is analyzed. As a result of the observation, some morphological and grammatical features of the present day English `are described. It is analyzed how much the functioning of the English language in speech differs from the prescriptive norms.
